My Ormoc City app for iPhone and iPad

My Ormoc City app was primarily built to boost the tourism potential of the city, which is one of the top development thrust of the city government. At the same time, it promotes transparency, and awareness by providing easy access to information by the users. This initiative serves as an answer to the city government’s goal of providing better service, and getting closer to the people.

With this app, the people of Ormoc can become more cognizant of the latest happenings in the city, as well as important announcements. Tourists and visitors can also benefit from the app as it provides essential information of what the city can offer. The app shows a list of events and activities, and go-to places like restaurants, malls, hotels, and other destinations.

The app has integrated latest technologies to give the users the best possible experience. Aside from its user-friendly interface, users can now get turn-by-turn directions in going around the city. Also, the city government can easily disseminate important announcements through push notifications and interactive promotions to its users.

My Ormoc City app was made possible through the public-private partnership of the LGUand STI College-Ormoc. The development of the app almost cost nothing as the school offered one of their IT instructors to build the app, while the LGU, through its Tourism Office, supplies the data. It is co-managed by the LGU’s media center and IT department.

The app is continually being enhanced and maintained by an in-house mobile app developer of LGU Ormoc, and will soon be turned-over to the City Tourism Office for updating of information.
